A Short Night and A Long Day (Sarria to Vilei)

We finally arrived in Santiago. As the plane was landing, we could see peregrinos (pilgrims) walking towards Santiago. After checking in at our accommodations, we went into Sarria, the starting point for our camino. We discovered a small cafe with a delicious tart of Santiago. We learned, as we walked back to our accommodation, the hills here are much steeper than the hills we are used to! We explored an old monastery with a beautiful inner courtyard and walked past a 600 year old oak tree. The countryside is beautiful! Pictures to follow (when we have wifi).

The steps in Sarria…the begining of the Camino for many people.
